One attempt to see all at the 2011 Iowa State Fair was not enough, so had to go back for more. Almost impossible to take everything in, from the coveted Blue Ribbon for the largest pumpkin to Fried Twinkies on a Stick, Politicians on The Soap Box, continuous Grandstand Events and Stage Entertainment, to Ribbons for the best Apple Pie to a Tractor Parade. The list way to long to fit in one week.
I was glad to be reminded of the kindness of the people of Iowa. My brother-in-law left his car keys in the ignition in the parking lot, car unlocked all day. Where in the world, would you come back and still find your car sitting in the same spot waiting for you? Iowa is truly the heartland of America and I miss its wholesomeness, something you don’t see to often in the world today. It felt refreshing and will miss its down home hospitality.
