I had the honor and privilege of meeting Ron Kovic, writer of “Born on the 4th of July” in Los Angeles at a rally. Happy Birthday Mr. Kovic, we salute you.
The picture of the young sailor is that of my father when he was a young man. He was born on the 4th of July, 1925, (we miss you.) He served his country by joining the Navy in his teens in 1943 and was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island. He was honorably discharged and then when President Truman made a call for men to serve in the Korean War my father re-enlisted and he served overseas.
I’m thankful to those who served to keep our country free.
